Less frequent but still important secondary causes of osteoporosis in men must also be considered independent of androgen levels, and these include gluten enteropathy, primary hyperparathyroidism, thyrotoxicosis, multiple myeloma, lymphomas, or granulomatous diseases, all of which can present with multiple fractures and low bone mass (see Table 29-3).
